Pastoral Care and Prayer Ministry

Pastoral Care/Prayer Ministry is:

• A ministry of care, nurture, healing, guidance and restoration
• Care for the soul, spirit, mind and body
• For individuals, couples, friends, families, and communities
• Redemption of the past, life in the present, growth for the future
• Shepherding for young and old as their maturity requires
• Access to the full teaching, grace, mercy and provision of God
• Prayer ministry guided by wisdom and God’s Spirit
• A ministry of healing and restoration to the sick, wounded, brokenhearted, captive, immature and lost
• A way of life formed by loving, true, eternal relationships in the family of God
• Truthful, sincere, diligent application of biblical principles to life
• Using all the spiritual resources available, such as:
• Prayer, fasting, worship, confession
• Anointing with oil, laying on of hands
• Deliverance from evil spirits
• Communion, baptism
• Part of the community life and outreach of the people of God
• Open to all people without distinction

Care and Ministry Lead to Thriving

Five necessities for thriving are central to The Life Model:

• Belonging
• Receiving and giving life
• Synchronization/recovery
• Maturity
• A healthy heart 

Deep in the right hemisphere of every human brain is a control center that develops during the first two years after conception. This center will run our lives and bodies and, provided we develop a strong one, will see us through the tempests of life. We seek to train and restore this control center. With it we can regulate our emotions, act like ourselves and stay synchronized inside and out.

 We become traumatized when the emotional intensity of a life event exceeds our capacity to maintain synchronization between the four levels of our control center.  Thriving means building a strong control center through joyful attachment bonds that bring peace and return us to joy when we stray.

Scheduling an Appointment for Pastoral Care and Prayer Ministry

All our ministers provide ongoing ministry to help selected individuals heal and mature. We strongly encourage people who desire ministry to read Living From The Heart Jesus Gave You and Living With Men in preparation for ministry times. People who have identified their earned maturity level (Maturity Self Assessment Form) and can list the bad things that have happened (Type B trauma) and what was missing for full development (Type A trauma) make much more efficient use of their ministry time. Steps Back to Thriving Through Shepherd’s House Pastoral Care:

1. Call Shepherd’s House at 626-794-3670 and schedule an appointment.
2. Print, read and sign the Request for Pastoral Care
3. Print and complete the Self Assessment Guide for Prayer Ministry keeping in mind that you will need to have read Living From The Heart Jesus Gave You
4. Print and complete the Maturity Self Assessment keeping in mind you will need to read Living With Men to fully understand earned maturity.
5. Print and complete Asking Someone to Pray for You to prepare the community prayer support to help you heal and grow.

Scheduling an Intensive Ministry Time

Several of our pastors provide intensive ministry times for people who must travel long distances or resolve significant issues. There are many different needs that respond to intensive ministry times.

We prefer that those arriving for individual ministry for their life traumas bring a prayer support person or their personal counselor with them to the intensive sessions. These intensives are often in the form of several hours of ministry a day for several days or even a week. Interested parties will need to contact Shepherd’s House at 626-794-3670 and then make an application for intensive work.

Steps For Intensive Ministry Through Shepherd’s House Pastoral Care:

1. Call Shepherd’s House at 626-794-3670 and request an intensive with one of the ministers who does intensives.
2. You will be asked to write and submit a summary of your goals for the intensive.
3. Print, read and sign the Request for Pastoral Care
4. Print and complete the Self Assessment Guide for Prayer Ministry keeping in mind that you will need to have read Living From The Heart Jesus Gave You
5. Print and complete the Maturity Self Assessment keeping in mind you will need to read Living With Men to fully understand earned maturity.
6. Print and complete Asking Someone to Pray for You to prepare the community prayer support to help you with the resources you need meet your goals for the intensive.
7. When your minister can see that your goals and resources are matched to what can be attempted in an intensive, you will agree together on a date and amount of time.
